Match funding, also known as match giving, is simple way to maximise your fundraising with the help of your employer, a local business or the company you bank with. Not all companies offer match funding, but those that do usually pledge to donate a sum of money equal to the amount their employee, local fundraiser or customer has raised for a charity of their choice.Some companies and businesses will match fund on a pound for pound basis up to a certain limit or they may instead only agree to a specific amount regardless of the amount raised. Please note that the match funding organisation may have certain requirements for example the charity you are fundraising for must be a registered charity.
Unfortunately, there is no list, but we have found from our experience that banks, building societies, insurance companies, supermarkets, utilities providers, phone companies and manufacturers are often happy to consider matched funding.
The best way to get started is to check online first. Your employer or the business you are looking to approach may have some information online explaining their how they match fund .If you are unable to find anything online about your employers or your target company’s match funding policy, you will need to approach them directly. Many companies have a charity champion or charity coordinator who can advise you further about their match funding scheme. If your employer or the business doesn’t have a charity coordinator, don’t be put off as they may still have a match funding scheme. If they don’t have a match funding scheme, we would suggest you ask them for the best person to speak to as they could be interested in setting one up.
If your employer or the business you are targeting agrees to match fund your fundraising event, they will probably provide you with a form to complete. This form will ask for information about your event and inform you of the procedures you will have to agree to for them to support your event.
Gift of a Wedding has now got to the point where we are doing so many weddings that the need to fundraise has become paramount. In previous years we could always rely on generous supporters donating enough money through the year to cover what we needed for the number of weddings we were doing. As we are now literally gifting a wedding a week, it has become apparent that in order for us to continue providing our wonderful service, it is necessary for us to fundraise throughout the year. Gift of a Wedding will be looking to host many different types of events throughout the year, that you could either take part in, or come along to as a volunteer. These fun events will help us to raise the much needed £250,000.00 we need to help us continue our good work.
